Analysis of key Recruitment Documents :: Business and Management Studies

Analysis of key Recruitment Documents The two main recruitment documents at Sainsbury's are the job description and the person specification. A job description lists the main tasks required in a job. Sainsbury's have job descriptions for every job they have from the caretaker to the managing director. The job description describes two types of information: it describes the tasks of the job and it describes the behaviour necessary to actually do these tasks satisfactorily. In drawing up a job description the personnel department at Sainsbury's has a number of alternatives. These are: * The line manager can draw up a description of what the job entails * The existing job holder can do it * The Human Resources Manager can interview the job holder and the line manager to find out what the job involves. I It is better to combine these approaches. The list of tasks and the relative importance of each one, is vitally important for a number of reasons: * In carrying out appraisals of employees as the manager cannot appraise employees if the employees do not know what the job involves * When analysing the job for training needs the manager must be able to see what tasks a job involves so that s/he can determine ehat training may be required When Sainsbury's draft the job description, the main features are: * The job title * The location of the job * A brief outline of what Sainsbury's does * The main purpose of the job * A detailed list of the main tasks required in the job * Pay and other benefits * Promotion aspects Sainsbury's expect employees to more flexible and to do a wider range of work. The presentation of a job description is important and Sainsbury's job description is always neatly presented. A person specification sets out the qualities of an ideal candidate whereas a job description defines the duties and responsibilities of the job. It describes the characteristics and attributes which a person needs to be able to do the job to the required standards. A person specification is normally set out under these headings: * Physical make up- what should the job holder look and sound like * Achievements- what education, qualifications and experience does the applicant need * Specific skills- what special skills and talents are needed by the applicant * Interests- hobbies * Personality- what motivation and temperament and attitude should the applicant have * Personal circumstances- what personal and domestic arrangements might the ideal person have? The selection documents used at Sainsbury's have many advantages and

Dota Addiction

What is Dota? Dota or Defense of the ancient is a custom scenario for the real-time strategy video game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and it's expansion, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, based on the â€Å"Aeon of Strife† map for StarCraft. The objective of the scenario is for each team to destroy the opponents' Ancients, heavily guarded structures at opposing corners of the map. Players use powerful units known as heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters called â€Å"creeps†. As in role-playing games, players level up their hero and use gold to buy equipment during the mission. Does Dota really affect the youth today? Does it help the youth today? Or it corrupts the minds of the youth who are playing this game? Let us look at Dota's advantages and disadvantages. Dota helps the youth who are playing this game to become mentally alert, cooperative, and strategic. It also increases their knowledge in mathematics by computing the gold's, damages, magic and physical reduction present in the game. Indeed, Dota really helps the youth by playing this game. In the other hand, playing this game without time management and priority can lead to irresponsibility. Starting from their responsibilities, the youth spend more time playing this game rather than doing their tasks. Studies were forgotten, students became lazy, and relationships with the family were also affected because of this game. Playing this game also triggers the player to lose his/her temper and values. Why? It simply because of the different languages used during the game or what we called â€Å"Trash talks†. Trash talks such as foul languages can really lose their temper and values. As a result, the both sides will fight against each other. Gamble is also present in this game, the highest bet is 5,000 pesos and the lowest is 300 pesos. Again, money for them is not that important anymore. Many players says that â€Å"Dota is the best past time ever,† so it's OK for them to waste their money. Due to playing, eating is irrelevant; the satisfaction they get from playing is the same as the satisfaction they get from eating. As a result, the body's immune systems are getting weaker and now expose the different viruses and diseases. All in all, Dota really affects the life style of the youth who are in to this game, although it has one good benefit, but it corrupts the mind and the way the youth think. It also weakened the body system, money and moral values were not given importance because of this game.

Should A Dead Man Have To Walk Essay - 1136 Words

Normally, due to the pain and suffering content, I do not partake in the viewing of movies such as Dead Man Walking; directed by Tim Robbins; starring Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn. However, this is an opinion paper and I enjoy expressing my opinion when asked. The film is based on the nonfiction book by Sister Helen Prejean. In the film, a Louisiana nun becomes spiritual advisor to a convict on death row, and tries to get him to accept responsibility for his actions. I believe religion and the death penalty are the two main focuses in the film. The convict, portrayed by Penn, has been on death row for six years. He was one of two men convicted of a double murder and a rape. The other guy was not sentenced to death, only life without†¦show more content†¦I was astonished when Penn admitted his guilt to Sister Helen at the end of the movie. I believed he was innocent up to that point. I had begun to feel sorry for him, thinking that he had been wrongfully accused of such a hor rible crime; however I feel that it is a crime that his cohort did not receive the same punishment as he. I cannot say that I agree with the death penalty, but I have never been put in that situation. At this point in my life I do not believe that one who murders should be murdered. After all death is the great escape, right? People see or hear about people, on the news or in the paper, that voluntarily kill themselves just â€Å"to get away from it all†. I feel the greatest punishment for any man to endure is the obstruction of freedom. Surely death is no worse than watching one’s own life waste away in a cold dark prison cell. If a man is sentenced to death rather than life in prison, he is lucky. Of course, if I were in the shoes of the parents of the victims I might be singing a different tune. If one of my children were in the ground, and the perpetrator was still breathing, I know I would probably want him to suffer as much pain if not more than the pain he cause d my child. However, I do not have any children and I do not exactly feel this way at this point in my life. Right now I feel that murdering a murderer is not the best punishment. Every time I hear about a criminal being sentenced to death I feel as if we, as in theShow MoreRelatedSummary Of Louis And Philip s The Night 879 Words   |  4 PagesPhilip begins to point at a dead raccoon and ask Louis to see if it’s alive.
